What is Borderline Personality Disorder?


Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) is a mental health condition which marked by extream mood fluctuations, interpersonal relationship issues, increased impulsive behaviours and self harming tendencies. BPD is comprised in "cluster B" disorders, which marked by dramatic behaviours.Individuals who suffering from BPD will feel like they are traveling in a emotional rollercoaster, and that's why BPD is also known as Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder (EUPD).


What is mental pain or psychache?

Mental pain is a broader term explaining an individual's emotional suffering that affects emotions, which also known as psychological pain, emotional pain or psychache. Mental pain is intense as any other phisical pain or discomfort and sometimes manifests in physical symptoms, such as headache or stomach aches. Psychache can impact individuals daily activities, sleep, appetite and social interactions and will develop as a result of traumatic experiences,ongoing stress or psychiatric disorders.


Is there any relationship between mental pain and BPD?

Individuals who suffering from BPD will experience intence emotional disturbances including mental pain. Mental pain can manifest extreme feelings of emptiness, loneliness,anger,guilt, anxiety,sadness,imagined abandonment, rejection, betrayal etc.

Individuals going through mental pain will struggle with self image, and identity issues. They have fragmented sense of self which lead to confusion and unstableness in relationship. Mental pain in BPD is a multifaceted experience includes difficulties in regulating emotions,distorted self image, unstable relationship, impulsive behaviours that leads to distressing experience which significantly impact an individual's quality of life.
