Happy hormones/brain chemicals

Happy hormones/brain chemicals

We all wanted to be happy. Recently, I heard one of my friends say, "If I could buy happiness from a shop, I would be the happiest person in the world." Sametime ,there is another group of people whose happiness relies entirely on someone else; if that person is gone, their happiness is lost too. But what is happiness? Can we buy it, or is it dependent on others?

What is Happiness?

Happiness is a positive and pleasant emotion. Like any other emotion, certain brain chemicals are responsible for the feeling of happiness. These chemicals include dopamine, serotonin, oxytocin, and endorphins.

Duties of Happy Hormones

Dopamine is a happy chemical released when we feel good or motivated. It gives you a reward when you do something good and encourages you to do it again. We can boost dopamine naturally by:

• Eat foods rich in tyrosine, like nuts and seeds.
• Exercise regularly.
• Get enough sleep.
• Manage stress through relaxation techniques.
• Listen to music you enjoy
• Spend time in the sunlight
• Socialize and engage in rewarding activities.
• Practice mindfulness and meditation.

Serotonin is another happy hormone that manages our mood, sleep, thinking, focus, memory, and appetite.Regular exercise, sunlight exposure, getting quality sleep and Omega 3 rich foods helps to increase serotonin level naturally.

Oxytocin, known as the "love hormone," is released when we feel affection, promoting trust, empathy, and stronger relationships.
To increase Oxytocin one can

• Increase social bonding
• physical touch
• Massage
• Pet Interaction

Endorphins, our natural painkillers, reduce stress and pain.Eating dark chocolate and regular exercise will increase endorphin level naturally

To stay emotionally balanced over time, it's important to live a healthy life, handle stress well, and get help from professionals when you need it.
