We all talk about the problems a mother faces during pregnancy, mood swings, morning sickness, headache, backache, bowel changes and a lot more but we never talk about what problems they have to face after giving birth to a child. So much pressure and stress is given to this process. The birth of a baby can give you a variety of emotions ranging from happiness, excitement to fear and anxiety. But sometimes it can also lead to depression which we never expect to happen. Most new moms experience “baby blues” after childbirth.
Baby blues are feelings of sadness that you may have in the first few days
after having a baby. It is normal to have emotional highs and lows during this
period.
Feeling blue does not mean you did anything. All these are completely normal.
You are not to blame for how you feel. They can last up to 2 weeks. They
usually go away on their own, and you don’t need any treatment.
Most new moms experience a long lasting severe form of depression called
postpartum depression. It is a type of depression that happens after giving
birth .It causes extreme sadness and despair. Having postpartum depression
is not a weakness or flaw.
Prompt and right treatment can help you fight this depression and help you
bond well with your baby.
A mental health professional can help you to diagnose and deal with this
problem. Your mental health professional asks about your feelings and
thoughts and helps you solve them.
